Lisa Curry Talks About Growing Up With Domestic Violence
LISA Curry has revealed she used swimming as a child as an escape from her family’s domestic violence — with the three-time Olympic champion claiming: “the pool was my safe place.”
Curry shocked her campmates on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! with the revelations, telling them she was “probably around the age of thirteen or fourteen [when] we had a lot of domestic violence in our house.”.
“I just wanted to be at the pool the whole time just to be away from what was happening at the house. I asked my mum if she would drop me off early and pick me up late. I used to sleep in my togs, mum never had to get me up, I loved being there. I don’t regret one day, I just had a ball.”
